On My Mind in February

The Star. Illustrated Tarot Card.

On New Year’s Eve I felt a flicker of excitement. For the New Year. For the New Decade. I’m still percolating and moving slowly into the decade, there’s been one thing after another, and I came down with the flu last week. But it’s a thrilling feeling and I hope the New Year will open new doors.

  • The Ebb & Flow of Creativity: Despite the flu, I’ve been feeling quite clear, and managed to put together a few new pieces.

  • Book Club: Frida and I started a new book group! We’ve had our first meeting, and seven of nine members could come! We had soup and discussed Ronny Ambjörnsson's Människors undran. A history of ideas in ancient Greece.

  • In my Kitchen: The kettle has been on double duty. Lots of tea. When I feel better I’d like to try this: Baked salmon with winter slaw.

  • On my Radio: “William Wordsworth was not only one of the greatest English poets but also a creative and political radical. 250 years after his birth in 1770, Professor Jonathan Bate travels in his footsteps to reveal the true story of the making of the poet“. In Wordsworth's Footsteps

  • On my Mind: I’d like to go to the cinema and see some exhibitions when I feel better.

  • On my Radar: Increasing alarm about the climate emergency has given birth to the “degrowth” movement, which calls on advanced countries to embrace zero or "green growth". Can We Have Prosperity Without Growth? By John Cassidy of The New Yorker.

  • On my Balcony: Dreaming and reading about seeds to sow this spring.

  • Weekend Project: Influensa.
